If you dream of building a custom home, but don’t want the extra expense that a custom build brings, this is an excellent option.How it Works:

From Saturday, Nov. 24th until Saturday, January 20th, we are offering the chance to Choose Your Finishings with purchase of The ASPEN or The BIRCHVIEW. (This is a first-come, first-serve opportunity.)

1. Put your deposit down on the home of your choice.

2. Choose your finishings. This includes flooring, cabinetry, lighting fixtures and paint colours. The Wilcor Design Team is on hand to help guide you the process and connect you with suppliers.

3. Close on the home at time of completion. Both homes will be move-in ready Spring 2019!

The YOUR HOME, YOUR WAY Advantage:

Custom builds typically require a draw mortgage, with interest accruing throughout the build. This makes building a custom home out of reach for many people.

Your Home, Your Way is what we call a “partial” custom build, with the design completed as a spec home, and the finishings chosen by YOU. This option allows you to greatly customize your home’s style through its finishings, while still financing with a completion mortgage. This can result in an estimated $20,000 financing savings!

Let’s Go Local: Top Spots For Wellness Near SLR

Hello! We’re back with our second post in the Let’s Go Local series, where we feature fantastic local businesses — most located within minutes of Spring Lake Ranch. Our first post showcased 5 Home Decor shops, and we were thrilled with your response! 

In honor of February being the month of LOVE as well as Heart month (bringing awareness to cardiovascular health), this Let’s Go Local post is all about Wellness and Self Love. 

Sometimes the days and weeks go by so fast we don’t stop to check in on our own wellbeing. Having a regular practice of self care — whether it’s exercise, massage, nutrition based, or something else — can help you feel more present and joyful, even during challenging days.

These five businesses in the Stony Plain and Spruce Grove areas are invaluable to our residents, giving them opportunities to take care of themselves while supporting the local community. We hope it helps you discover a new favourite spot for some “me” time!

That Yoga Place

Located in Spruce Grove, That Yoga Place is a wonderful yoga studio offering daily drop-in hot and warm classes, from flow to yin to strength classes and even gentle candlelit sessions. Special pre-registered classes for youth and children are also available, as well as pre and post-natal sessions and a variety of workshops. From shops and restaurants to wellness services, entertainment, and family activities, we are will be sharing our top picks in the coming months. Supporting local businesses is so important to helping a community thrive. First up: Home Decor. The SLR team is deep into the design process for our 2018 builds, and we LOVE talking all things decor. Whether you are renovating, thinking of sprucing up your home for the holidays, or on the hunt for gift ideas, these 5 local home decor shops are an excellent source of inspiration.

Whimsical Vintage Creations

Described as “an amazing gem in Stony Plain”, “unique and charming”, and “my favourite store ever” by customers, this beautiful shop features a variety of furniture and home decor pieces. Owner Kyla Tetley also offers sign making and other classes — a great group activity (and gift idea)! If you love browsing vintage-inspired items in a welcoming, elegant space, Whimsical Vintage Creations is a must-visit destination.

Reside Furnishings

Reside is a bit further afield — with locations in west and south Edmonton — but it’s such a phenomenal furniture store, we had to share it here! This family-run business has been around since 1978 (formerly known as Leather Elite) and features a gorgeous selection of modern furnishings. Many of its pieces are made with reclaimed and sustainable materials like wrought iron or solid wood, and you’ll find everything from bedroom sets to dining tables to leather sectionals. Reside prides itself on its relationships with customers, so you can expect excellent service that has that personal touch.

Grove Decorating Centre ~ Benjamin Moore

Known for producing the highest-quality paints and finishes in the industry, Benjamin Moore is a favourite among interior designers, including us at SLR! (Our newest home for sale, The Lakewood, features Paper White on the walls.) Grove Decorating Centre in Spruce Grove is the company’s local retailer, and the place to go when choosing paint colours. Honing in on the right palette for your home build or reno can be intimidating for anyone, so we recommend taking samples home and trying them out (be sure to notice the variation at different times of day!) before committing. The store’s helpful staff is on hand to answer any questions and help guide you in the right direction. 

 The Barn Owl

Part country decor, part woodworking/craft classes, The Barn Owl is one of Stony Plain’s most unique businesses. Customers rave about the decorative treasures, friendly staff, and peaceful environment. You can’t help but feel happy approaching the bright red exterior, and once inside, you’re immersed in a cozy world filled with charming pieces designed to being character to your home. A perfect stop on a weekend afternoon, or for a craft class with friends. (Check out their Everyday Wreath Classes offered throughout December!)
